Welcome to SCMA athletics. My name is Greg Jones. I am the Athletic Director and Physical Education teacher here at SCMA. I am in my 10th year of service here at SCMA. I am a graduate of SCMA, Servite High School, and California State University of Fullerton with a B.S. Degree in Child Development. I believe and instill four major factors in being successful in our athletic program which are desire, dedication, discipline, and determination to produce a winning program.
I believe that winning is not just based on having the highest score, but on what the cadets learn and how they play the game. Sportsmanship is a key element in the SCMA program. SCMA athletes play with honor, integrity, and sportsmanship. These are all qualities that I learned in my schooling. As a teacher, I have the fortunate opportunity to give to the cadets at SCMA the tools that I have learned by means of my education and life experiences.
SCMA has facilities that many elementary schools do not have on their campus. SCMA has an indoor swimming pool, a gymnasium, and a large football/soccer field. Our field is natural grass. The Parochial Athletic League football championships are held here yearly in November with a crowd of 500 to 600 spectators and players on campus. SCMA also plays host to basketball and volleyball P.A.L. play-offs. Our Cadets have use of a recreation room which includes ping pong, billiards, foosball, air hockey, and pinball games. Thus, the Cadets of SCMA have multiple recreational and sports available to them.
SCMA has won numerous football, basketball, and volleyball league championships. We are especially proud in recent years of our P.A.L. Basketball Championship in 2006-2007, our P.A.L. Football Championship in 2003-2004, and our P.A.L. Volleyball Championship in 2001-2002. The Cadets of SCMA are dedicated to their religious, academic, military, music, and athletic programs.
Sincerely,
Gregory M. Jones
